Frames - Portuguese Film Festival
Welcome to the 8th edition of Frames - Portuguese Film Festival!
Closer. Exactly like this, as a comparative adjective and as a metamorphosis of a relationship.
All the films of this year’s edition of Frames - Portuguese Film Festival try somehow to get nearer to the depicted subjects - whether through deep and complex portraits, whether through the act of trying to remember or understand something better. Cinematic objects that are not afraid of looking closer into the complexities of being human, intimately observing them, portraying affections between bodies that are moving towards each other.
During a pandemic that forces us to have physical distance, Closer is about shortening distances and moving the camera closer to the humanity that inhabits the framings. Closer is a choreography of the moving energies we see on the screen and as a cinematic gesture.
So let’s celebrate the best of Portuguese cinema - together.

Frames - Portuguese Film Festival started in 2013 as an initiative from Ung FAPS, the association of young Portuguese people in Stockholm, wishing the festival could become a significant cultural gathering platform for the Portuguese community in Sweden. In 2014 the festival spread to Gothenburg and Vasteras and has gained strength in the three cities ever since.
Frames seeks to promote the most recent, original and creative content within the Portuguese cinematographic panorama, as well as introduce new and talented Portuguese filmmakers to the Swedish public. Cinema, the main focus of the event, is broadened by other cultural expressions, such as literature, debates and music events.
