‘El 47' tells the story of an act of peaceful dissent and the grassroots neighbourhood movement that transformed Barcelona in 1978 and changed the image of its suburbs forever. Manolo Vital was a bus driver who took over the number 47 bus to debunk a lie that the City Council insisted on repeating: buses could not climb the hills of the Torre Baró district. An act of rebellion that proved to be a catalyst for change, showing that people are proud of their roots, of a neighbourhood struggle, of the working class that helped create the modern Barcelona of the 1970s.
