The Accidental Prime Minister is based on a book of the same title by Sanjaya Baru media adviser to ex PM Manmohan Singh. The film delves into misdeeds and misappropriations that hounded the UPA. Be it Nuclear Deal... Insecurities of other senior INC member and above all the capricious ways of Rahul Gandhi and his coterie. The film has all of it. The film takes the audiences through the thrilling drama that unfolded not only the making but also unmaking of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The film also provides answers to perennial questions... Had Manmohan Singh quit when things began taking a turn for the worse, his party and its leadership would have been in trouble and not Singh. But he chose to linger on until his party came to believe that he was a liability. The film highlights many such moments when Singh could have taken the decision to go.

The film may make you end up disliking Manmohan Singh more because he could have done so much better for the country but could not do due to those around him for whom petty politics was a priority but not the country. The Accidental Prime Minister is also about who cares how history will judge Sardar Manmohan Singh? What matters is how the present generation judges him.
