Film i Samtidskonsten har bjudit i konstnären Liz Rosenfeld att hålla en föreläsning med utgångspunkt i sitt konstnärskap. I denna artist talk kommer Liz Rosenfeld att behandla frågor som rör queer-feministiska metoder och arbetssätt i förhållande till sitt eget filmskapande och konstnärliga praktik. Därtill visas exempel på arbeten av andra konstnärer ur queer-feministiska gemenskaper i Berlin och London där Rosenfeld själv varit verksam.

Föreläsningen äger rum söndagen den 4 oktober 2018 på biografen Zita. Observera att samtalet sker på engelska. Dagen innan föreläsningen visas filmen FUCK TREE av Liz Price tillsammans med filmen SODOM av Luther Price kl. 16:30 på biografen Zita.

"This talk is rooted in questions regarding the intersection and representation of queer politics and queer desire in moving and performative images, the modalities of resistance they create and support, as well as the intense contradictions they bring working in tandem together. When queer desire and queer politics fail to intersect, how can this be addressed and used in creative productivity?

I will explore the intersection of politics and desire in my own work, and how both serve as vehicles in an alternative queer economy of art making, while also looking at how they contradict each other in definition and practice. Stemming from my own experience of working in predominantly DIY queer and feminist contexts for the last 10 years, I have started to ask myself: "Is it possible to continue to create work that holds these politics central to its core, while also exploring other mainstream modes for visibility and distribution? How does my commitment to continue to create film from an unapologetic queer and feminist perspective regarding labour strategies support and contradict my desire which motivates my sexual and, in some cases, emotional perspective?”

While I do connect political and emotional ideologies, I also recognise that it is hard to find a synchronicity between them. I strive to create images that not only speak to these political perspectives, but also make the labour behind how images are made transparent to an audience. In this talk I want to go into my own desire to make both politically charged and dream-like images that undo normative romantic expectations of queer bodies. The experimental nature of this talk will mirror the experimental narratives of my creative work, and how I attempt to untangle the intricacies and hypocrisies that can surface within queer desire and queer politics, and how these hypocrisies create future portals.”
