Maria (10) is a Bulgarian orphan who was recently adopted by her American mom Amy(30s). She struggles a lot in her new school, because she cannot speak any English and her mom forbids her to speak with anyone in Bulgarian. Sofia (30) is her music teacher and after much deliberation she gains the courage to finally talk to Maria in Bulgarian and offers to sing with her, but is this the best idea when the consequences could be disastrous with Amy? 

Palimpsest

"Palimpsest" is a slice-of-life film that follows one day in the life of two elderly people, i.e. a married couple living in the countryside. The main roles are played by real people, not actors, who we follow in their everyday, yet constructed fictitious situations, which is why the film has the characteristics of both a feature film and a documentary. "Palimpsest" does not have a concrete narrative structure, because the director's approach to filming itself was based on placing real people (in this case, the grandparents of the film's author) in their everyday situations, but with a point of view inspired by the author's childhood impressions and his stay with his grandmother and grandfather. So "Palimpsest" is actually a layering of family history, modernity and impressionistic pictures of rural everyday life.

When Era (Xhulia Musagalliu) travels to the beautiful Albanian Riviera in search of adventure, she quickly develops a connection to Fiori (Enxhi Cuku), an ambitious, local florist. Fiori and Era embark on a journey together, discovering the island and bonding over shared experiences. A passionate romance blossoms between them, just as Era's vacation is coming to an end.

While preparing the details for his own funeral, an elderly man realises that he will be celebrating Christmas alone. Unable to fall asleep, he decides to spend the holiday at the grave of his deceased wife.

An industrial zone in a small town on the river Drina. The river that separates Bosnia and Serbia and flows with a bloody history. One morning, group of workers is fired from the explosives factory. While some of them prepare to strike, unconvinced and depressed protagonist VELID (29) wanders around the small town. Velid gets intercepted by two young filmmakers, a local and a Westerner, who are shooting a film about Bosnia and Herzegovina. The directors are fascinated by Velid's face and and Velid agrees to an interview. As the shooting develops, the situation grows more humiliating for Velid. He seeks the answer from the river Drina.
